I have a 93 eagle vision TSI. When i pull up to a stop or even slow down the engine dies. Now sometimes it wont change gears. I took it to AAMCO and they said it was not electrical most likely the lock down gear. What is that and if I do an overhaul on the transmission will it fix the problem?

I have a 94`silverado 4x2 w/33 inch tires no visible lift in the front has 2" blocks in the back but the truck looks level the problem im having is ive bought 2 shocks now for the front drivers side of the truck due to the drivers side front wheel hopping as i go on down the road.both time i have changed them they have gone bad in a day or two and i can not figure out why a shock would go bad that fast regardless
